How do I answer investor questions during my raise?

Raising on Invown2 min readUpdated Oct 1, 2026

During a Regulation Crowdfunding raise, where you answer a question matters as much as what you say. The rules are designed so every prospective investor gets the same information, and your Invown pitch page must be the single source of truth for your offering.

Answer terms questions on the platform

Under SEC rules, questions about the terms of your offering belong in the communication channels on the funding portal’s platform, where everyone can see both the question and your answer. Terms include the price, number, and type of securities, the closing date, your planned use of funds, and your progress toward the funding target. If someone asks about any of these by email, phone, or direct message, do not answer privately. Direct them to your pitch page on Invown and answer there.

Identify yourself every time

When you or anyone on your team responds on the platform, SEC rules require you to identify yourself as the issuer, or as a founder or employee of the issuer. A reply that promotes your own offering must make your affiliation clear.

Paying someone to promote? They must say so

You may not compensate anyone, directly or indirectly, to promote your offering through the platform’s communication channels unless they clearly disclose that compensation each time they post. This requirement comes from Section 4A(b) of the Securities Act.

Off-platform, stick to non-terms answers

Away from Invown, you can talk about your company, your mission, and objective metrics of past success and growth, but keep the terms of your offering out of it and link people to your pitch. Avoid hyperbole and anything that is not factual, and keep records of all communications about the offering. See What am I allowed to say when advertising my raise? for the full advertising rules.

If you are unsure whether a particular answer is safe to give, ask before you post. Contact us via support or talk to your legal counsel.
