How should I market my Reg CF or 506(c) raise?

Marketing the raise is your job as the issuer. Invown hosts your offering and handles the investment infrastructure, but we do not solicit investors on your behalf. Raises that reach their target usually do so because the right people heard about them early, from someone they trusted.

Start with the people who know you

Your first investors almost always come from your existing network: customers, past investors, tenants, suppliers, and your email and LinkedIn contacts. Before you launch, write that list down and sort it into likely investors, possible investors, and amplifiers, meaning people who will share the raise rather than invest in it. Early commitments matter, because an offering with visible momentum reads very differently to the next investor than one sitting at zero.

Know the rules before you publish

Reg CF and 506(c) both allow public marketing, within different limits. Under Reg CF you can publicize your offering, but what you may say about its terms outside the funding portal is restricted by SEC rules, and communications before your Form C is filed (“testing the waters”) need specific disclosures. Under 506(c) you can advertise publicly, but every investor must be accredited and you must take reasonable steps to verify that. If you pay anyone to promote the offering, that compensation generally has to be disclosed. Read What am I allowed to say when advertising my raise? before you publish anything, and check with your securities counsel when in doubt.

Work the channels in order

  • Email. Plan a sequence: a pre-launch note, a launch email, milestone updates, and a closing-soon reminder. Personal notes from the founder convert best.
  • Your website and social accounts. Post consistently about the project and team, and keep any mention of offering terms within the advertising-notice limits covered above.
  • Webinars and live Q&As. Answer the questions that stop people from investing.
  • Local and trade press. Community projects are a story reporters want to tell.
  • Paid ads. Use them only after you have worked your warm network; cold traffic to an offering with no commitments converts poorly.

Track where your investors actually come from, and shift effort toward what is producing them.
